2 00 8 Review of Scalar
The formulae needed to parametrise σ, κ, a0(980) and f0(980) are reviewed. For σ and κ, the Adler zero due to Chiral Symmetry Breaking plays a crucial role. The f0(980) and a0(980) are locked to the KK threshold by a cusp mechanism which leads to a sharp peak in attraction at the threshold. This mechanism may play a wider role. A novel suggestion is that the confinement potential involves a coo...
متن کاملA possible assignment for the ground scalar meson nonet
Based on the main assumption that the a0(980) and D ∗ sJ (2317) belong to the 1 3P0 qq̄ multiplet, in the framework of Regge phenomenology and meson-meson mixing, it is suggested that the a0(980), K ∗ 0 (1052), f0(1099) and f0(530) constitute the ground scalar meson nonet, and that the f0(1099) is composed mostly of ss̄ while the f0(530) is mainly uū+dd̄. It is supposed that these states would lik...
متن کاملHadronic D Decays Involving Scalar Mesons
The nonleptonic weak decays of charmed mesons into a scalar meson and a pseudoscalar meson are studied. The scalar mesons under consideration are σ [or f0(600)], κ, f0(980), a0(980) and K 0 (1430). A consistent picture provided by the data suggests that the light scalars below or near 1 GeV form an SU(3) flavor nonet and are predominately the q2q̄2 states, while the scalar mesons above 1 GeV can...

In the light scalar meson sector (M < ∼ 1.8 GeV) one expects at least one qq̄ nonet and a glueball, possibly also multi-quark states. We discuss the present phenomenological evidence for σ and κ particles; if real, they could be members of the lightest (quark or multi-quark) nonet together possibly with a0(980) and f0(980). Alternatively, the lightest nonet could include f0(980) but not σ and κ ...
متن کاملExistence of σ(600)/κ(900) and Possible Classification of Chiral Scalar Nonet
Recently, by reanalyzing the phase shift data of I = 0 ππ and of I = 1/2 Kπ scatterings, we showed the evidences for existence of light scalar mesons, σ(600) and κ(900), respectively, which had been sought but missing for a long time. The σ(600) and κ(900) together with the established resonances, a0(980) and f0(980), are shown to be consistently classified as the members of a single scalar σ-n...
